This and Definition:Unit Ideal of Ring were both raised by the troublesome Barto, who raised many unsourced definitions whose provenance was questionable.

One was raised for a general ring, while the other was raised for a commutative and unitary ring.

It needs to be pointed out that for a general ring, the definition is not necessarily applicable, as a general ring has no unity to base a unit ideal on.

Hence I would leave off doing anything with this until a reliable source is identified for this concept. Once we have definitive authority as to what is what, we leave it flagged up as a task to do. --prime mover (talk) 18:19, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
