Definition

Consider the following pair of simultaneous equations in $2$ variables:

\(\ds \map {f_1} {x, y}\) \(=\) \(\ds 0\)
\(\ds \map {f_2} {x, y}\) \(=\) \(\ds 0\)

The solution to the above simultaneous equations can be found by:

plotting the graphs of $f_1$ and $f_2$ on a coordinate plane
inspecting the points where these graphs intersect.

This is called a graphical solution to the system of simultaneous equations.
