Definition

A linear ratio scale is a scale of measurement with a fixed zero, such that measurements of a quantity such as $x$ and $y$ performed on two such scales satisfy a relationship of the form:

$y = m x$

Hence, in addition to the relationship of equality and ordering, ratios of measurements for each scale is constant.

Examples

Grams and Ounces

The scales for the measurement of weight in grams and ounces are linear ratio scales.
