Historical Note on Lorentz-Fitzgerald Contraction
The Lorentz-Fitzgerald contraction was predicted independently by Hendrik Antoon Lorentz in $1889$, and by George Francis FitzGerald in $1895$.
It was later explained by the Special Theory of Relativity.
