Definition
The word quartic is used to indicate a mathematical expression of the $4$th degree.
Quartic Polynomial
A quartic polynomial is a polynomial of degree $4$.
Quartic Function
A quartic function is an expression of the form:
- $\map Q x := a_0 + a_1 x + a_2 x^2 + a_3 x^3 + a_4 x^4$
where $a_0, a_1, a_2, a_3, a_4$ are constants.
Quartic Equation
A quartic equation is a polynomial equation of the form:
- $a x^4 + b x^3 + c x^2 + d x + e = 0$
such that $a \ne 0$.
