The example given is not strictly ad hominem.

Besides,as an argument form it may indeed be valid. "National Enquirer? Don't believe everything you read in there." If a particular source has been demonstrated to be untrustworthy then it is indeed valid to raise it as questionable. We do it as part of our policy: on-line resources are (as a general rule) disallowed as citation sources. --prime mover (talk) 12:16, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Good point. I'll correct it after re-reading 1995: Merrilee H. Salmon: Introduction to Logic and Critical Thinking, but right now I have to catch a bus. --GFauxPas (talk) 12:22, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Better? --GFauxPas (talk) 13:29, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes. Would an example featuring WP be pushing it? :) --Lord_Farin (talk) 13:31, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
We could link to some real live examples culled from the talk pages of $\mathsf{Pr} \infty \mathsf{fWiki}$ if you like. :-) --prime mover (talk) 13:33, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
