Indeed this doesn't seem like the most common meaning and should be disambiguated more specifically than (Functional Analysis), the more common meaning can be seen here for example. This is why I effing hate Wikipedia. Written by experts in everything except the ability to communicate clearly and simply. Hence it comes across as being pompous, erudite and utterly, utterly useless.
