The "Length" of the Legendre polynomials is just their norm in the integral space $L^2[-1,1]$. A definition page is therefore not necessary. — Lord_Farin (talk) 11:17, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Yes I noticed that and I had a quick think about it: if the term "length" is generally used in that form, we would do well to keep the page with that name. Its contents would contain little if nothing more than "The length of a L.P. is defined as its norm in $L^2[-1,1]$." Then a link would be added onto the disambiguation page Definition:Length. If the term "length of L.P." is truly idiosyncratic and unusual, then a mere redirect page would suffice. Research would need to be done to see what the general usage is. --prime mover (talk) 12:18, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
A cursory search indicates that "length" is a pretty common alternative for "norm" in general. The course of action thus seems to add a note about that to Definition:Norm on Vector Space and name the page "Norm of LP". I'll add the note. — Lord_Farin (talk) 12:23, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
